We had a snowstorm last week in Northeast. Oklahoma, what I call the Ozarks of Oklahoma and i found new appreciation for my rural hometown businesses.
When over 10 inches of snow came to the Ozarks in one day. We needed more birdseed, more dogfood and more help understanding how to effectively use our heater.
The folks at our local businesses pulled together to keep everyone safe and in warm places when the temperatures were under 0 degrees and the windchill was -25. Wow. I had never seen such cold weather except in Alaska when I was a teacher there long ago.
I’m from Southern Arkansas where the tall pines grow. I wasn’t prepared for barren hardwood trees to be so beautiful.
I wasn’t excited about moving to Oklahoma, but God had a better plan. I have fallen in love with this rugged, frontier and of course, I love being in the Ozarks of Oklahoma.
Do you ever argue with God? I surely do…in fact I’m hard-headed sometimes when he says what’s best for me.
